Environmental cleaning and infection prevention and control resources

Environmental cleaning is a critical element of standard precautions and of health service organisation infection prevention and control programs.

The National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards require health service organisations to have processes in place to maintain a clean and hygienic environment, in line with the current edition of the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of the Infection in Healthcare and jurisdictional requirements.

The Commission has produced a suite of environmental cleaning resources to support health service organisations to meet Action 3.13 of the Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard and to implement the environmental cleaning requirements of the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare.
