NGPA Scheme
The National General Practice Accreditation (NGPA) Scheme
The Commission in collaboration with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) developed the NGPA Scheme, which commenced on 1 January 2017.
The NGPA Scheme supports the accreditation of Australian general practices to the RACGP Standards for general practices and the RACGP Standards for point-of-care testing (as of November 2021).

About the NGPA Scheme
In 2021, the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) commissioned an independent review of general practice accreditation arrangements (the Review), including the NGPA Scheme. The purpose of the consultation was to seek stakeholder feedback on the strengths and limitations of general practice accreditation and its intersection with educational accreditation.

List of accredited general practices
General Practices and Aboriginal Medical Services accredited to the RACGP Standards for general practices have been independently assessed to ensure they have systems in place to meet the necessary safety and quality requirements. The register is updated on a monthly basis with assessments that were completed in the prior month – for example, a general practice that is assessed and accredited on 10 June will appear on the register in July.
