Abstract

Medication-related adverse events are the second most common type of incident reported in Australian hospitals after patient falls. In perioperative settings patients receive multiple medicines and in the majority of cases the medicines used will result in the desired outcomes. However, perioperative patients do experience harm as a result of medication errors.
