Gap analysis tool to support reprocessing of reusable medical devices

The Reprocessing of reusable medical devices (RMDs) gap analysis tool is designed to support health services to measure and improve their compliance with AS 5369:2023 and with the actions related to reprocessing of RMDs in the NSQHS Standards and National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards.

The tool can be used to identify gaps in current practices and to develop and monitor quality improvement plans for reprocessing reusable medical equipment, instruments and devices. It can be used by any organisation that operates, reprocesses, or oversees reusable medical devices.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care acknowledges the South Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), Sterilisation Services, Audit tool and action plan for AS 5369:2023 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices and other devices in health and non-health related facilities, for permission to adapt their local resource for national use.
