Requirements for medical testing for human genetic variation (third Edition)

The Commission released the third edition of Requirements for medical testing for human genetic variation on 28 February 2023.

Requirements for medical testing for human genetic variation (third edition) has now been updated under Schedule 1 of the Health Insurance (Accredited Pathology Laboratories—Approval) Principles 2017.

What does this mean for Australian pathology laboratories?

If your laboratory provides human genetic variation medical testing, then you will be required to comply and undergo an accreditation assessment to the third edition of Requirements for medical testing for human genetic variation.

Please contact your accrediting agency for information on the accreditation cycle and upcoming assessments.

Will there be a hard copy of this standard available?

The Commission will not be printing and distributing hard copies of this document.
