The Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Clinical Care Standard provides guidance to clinicians and healthcare services on managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The standard was released on 17 October 2024.

The goal of the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Clinical Care Standard is to reduce potentially preventable hospitalisations and improve overall outcomes for people with COPD by supporting best practice in the assessment and management of COPD, including exacerbations. It also aims to increase consideration of the palliative care needs of people with COPD to support symptom management and improve quality of life.
Launch of the standard
The standard was launched on 17 October 2024. See the expert panel discuss the importance of accurate diagnosis with spirometry, pulmonary rehabilitation and a step-wise approach to pharmacotherapy.
