Optimising ventilation for infection prevention and control in healthcare settings
There is a range of actions that Australian health service organisations can take to ensure environmental control measures, such as effective ventilation systems, are in place to reduce the risk of infection transmission.
Guidance has been developed for health service organisations to explain the importance of effective ventilation systems, and how ventilation risks can be mitigated to improve patient and workforce safety.
Health service organisations should use this guidance in conjunction with safety notices, alerts and other advice provided by their state and territory health authorities and the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare.
