First Australian report on antimicrobial use and resistance in human health.

Antimicrobial Stewardship in Australian Health Care (the AMS Book), initially published in 2018, continues to be updated and enhanced with additional evidence, information, and topic areas to inform Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) strategies, interventions, and implementation across a range of healthcare settings. As new resources become available, these will be added as hyperlinks to the AMS Book.

The Recommendations for the control of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (the CPE Guide) provides guidance on strategies to prevent, detect and contain CPE in Australian health service organisations.

The CPE Guide should be considered in conjunction with the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare, relevant local policies and procedures and your infection control team.

The purpose of this tool is to allow multi-purpose services and small hospitals to track the progress of implementing each standard. It should be used together with the NSQHS Standards Guide for multi-purpose services and small hospitals, and the accreditation workbook. The monitoring tool has been updated to reflect the new Preventing and Controlling Infections Standard.

The purpose of this fact sheet is to provide organisations with a general summary of specific issues on preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infection in the NSQHS Standards.
