The advisory informs imaging practices that:
- The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency has revised the national DRLs for nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography and published the DRLs on its website.
- There is a six month transition period from the previous DRLs to the revised DRLs.
- From 1 January 2024, accrediting agencies will assess if:
- Policies for undertaking a DRL comparison have been updated
- The facility reference levels have been compared against the revised DRLs.
Please familiarise yourself with this advisory. It is a requirement of the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme that imaging practices are compliant with relevant advisories.
