Risk communication module

The Commission has developed an online education module on shared decision-making that focuses on communicating risk.

To support clinicians develop and refine their skills in communicating effectively about the benefits and risks of treatment options with consumers, the Commission has developed a 2-hour e-learning module Helping patients make informed decisions: Communicating risks and benefits.

The Commission initially worked with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to develop the module for general practitioners. It was then adapted and modified for use by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Gynaecologists, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Following this the Commission developed an open access version:
