Overview

Hand Hygiene Auditor Educators (HAEs, previously called Gold Standard Auditors) are responsible for:

  • Conducting direct observational audits on healthcare workers hand hygiene compliance
  • Training others to become Hand Hygiene Auditors and Hand Hygiene Auditor Educators
  • Providing support to local Hand Hygiene Auditors and Hand Hygiene Auditor Educators
  • Supporting the implementation of the local hand hygiene program.

Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator Training Pathway

This pathway is for Hand Hygiene Auditors (HAs) who wish to become a Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator (HAE). Existing Gold Standard Auditors do not need to complete this training pathway.

The pathway builds upon the knowledge and skill set acquired as a Hand Hygiene Auditor and provides basic skills in adult education.

There is a prerequisite requirement to the pathway. Before commencing the Hand Hygiene Auditor Educator training, the learner must complete two consecutive years as a valid HA. This will equip the learner with the fundamental knowledge and skills in hand hygiene auditing.
