Standards and accreditation updates

The Commission convened the Health and Medical Research Advisory Group chaired by Professor Ian Chubb AC, to guide national consultations on the One Stop Shop on behalf of the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care and all jurisdictions via the Clinical Trials Project Reference Group.

From 31 May 2023, all health service organisations conducting clinical trials will be assessed against the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework (Governance Framework).

Healthcare services may now be assessed to the National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards by an approved accrediting agency.

Requirements for laboratory testing for human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C virus will come into effect on 1 May 2023.

The Commission, in consultation with the National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC), has released the fourth edition of Requirements for laboratory testing for immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) (the HIV and HCV testing standard).

The Commission invites you to join an online workshop on the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework, ahead of assessments as part of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards starting from 30 May 2023.
